Wiring - Tow Vehicle
Please
follow the "standard" industry wiring code
Black
(positive, battery) - min. 10 gauge
White
(Negative, ground), min. 10 gauge
Green:
Tail lights, min. 16 gauge
Red:
Left turn, min. 16 gauge
Brown:
Right turn, min. 16 gauge
Blue:
El. brakes (optional), min. 14 gauge
Yellow
(center terminal, optional), brake lights, min. 16 gauge
The
separate brake light circuit can be utilized when the tow
vehicle is so equipped, as Trilliums are equipped with this
'extra' wire.
Colors
refer to the stamping on the connector terminal block. Circuit
wires should be of the same color.
The
above color codes also refer to the wire colors within
Trillium trailers in the 12 volt DC harness.

"How To" guide can be downloaded here

Service
We have been contacted by many owners of
Vintage Trilliums for service & maintenance questions.
For questions other than those listed, or more detailed help,
please email to Service@TrilliumRV.com.
Below is help for some common items for VINTAGE
Trilliums.
Water leaks - (Other than
from window condensation)
If water accumulates in the storage compartments only, it must be coming in around the various hatches (cable, water, etc.), or lights on the lower section of the trailer.
Seal around the top & sides of the fixture.
If there is water in the storage compartments and the cushions are wet, then water is entering around the windows or center seam.
The center seam molding is hollow. Therefore, a bad seal on one spot on the seam may show up elsewhere since water can travel inside the molding.
Usually, a close look at the existing seal will determine if
there are gaps/cracks/void sections in the sealer. Since the resealing job isn't that difficult, resealing all the attached parts/fixtures/molding is recommended.
Sealing
All Trilliums were sealed at the factory with an acrylic sealer. Silicon will not stick to fiberglass for extended periods of time.
To repair/reseal the various sections, first wash thoroughly with soap & water. Once dry, wipe the surfaces that the sealer will come into contact with, with acetone and a white cloth. (Acetone will remove
color from fabrics, and transfer it to the trailer. Also, be careful not to touch any of the decals with this cloth. Acetone will remove
this color as well.)
Acetone can be purchased at most auto parts stores. Be sure to
dispose of rags properly, as Acetone is very flammable.
Once dry, and completely free of loose dirt &
contaminates, reseal using GE Maxx 3500. This is an acrylic
sealer found at most Home Depot stores and similar. It should
be applied
the same way as any other caulking job. Be sure to follow the
instructions on the tube, especially about ambient
temperature. Cold will add to the cure time, which could be a
problem if rain is eminent.
Refrigerators
A poorly working/not working fridge can be recharged by a
qualified Dometic repair center. Another option is to replace it with a new generation of 12 volt compressor fridges.
New Trilliums have this type of refrigerator. There is relatively low power consumption, and it isn't sensitive to being level.
Consider adding a second house battery if
the use is mainly "wilderness camping". These fridges are also
slightly larger, so a small surface frame may need to be added
so it it will fit properly.
Interior vinyl seam cover strips
If these strips have shrunk over time, or do not lay flat, remove them and place in very hot water. They can then be stretched to fit as it was originally. Be sure to do this while
the plastic is still hot-very warm.
Currently, there is no replacement available. However, an
effort is being made to find a source for those that are in
need of this seam molding. Once located, it will be noted
here.
Tires/Wheels
Trilliums
were originally supplied with B78 x 13 tires; early 1300's had
A78 x 13. Today, this tire is an ST 175/80R x 13, (Load
capacity 1360 lbs.). The
recommended minimum tire load capacity: Model 1300: 1100 lbs; Model
4500: 1360 lbs. (Each Tire). Set
the inflation pressure to the
maximum as stated on the tire sidewall, and check regularly.
Most tire failures are the result of underinflation and/or
overloading.
ST
tires are manufactured differently for the trailer industry.
They will give better performance, last longer, and don't have
to be de-rated. Even though trailers in the 70's &
80's were originally supplied
with P (passenger) tires, it is strongly recommended that ST tires be
used as a replacement today.
Maximum
wheel/tire diameter is 24 inches, to still fit inside the
wheel well. Many ask if 14" wheels would be an advantage.
No, since you are limited by the max. diameter.
Vintage
Trilliums Weight
'Standard' 1300 about 1,000 lbs.; 4500 - about
1,300
lbs.
Weight to be added to above :
Factory installed options
Equipment installed by other owners
Water, Propane, and Food
Bedding, Kitchen Gear
Personal Gear
Campground Gear: Leveling blocks, wheel chocks, extension
cords, water hoses, etc.
Brakes
All Trillium factory installed axles had brake flanges. 7 or 10 inch electric brakes can installed by most RV
service centers. Read your tow vehicle owner's manual to determine if the
trailer should have brakes when towed with it.
